Even though Ben didn’t want to leave the mare once she became more agitated and aggressive, the doctor was left in charge of her. In addition to being restless, Felicia seemed to be in tremendous discomfort. The animal was clearly in distress. Therefore it was preferable if the doctor tranquilized her as quickly as possible. Ben simply wanted it to be over, so he walked out so the doctor could concentrate on her work.
Felicia, finally sedated, was being prepped for the procedure while Ben and his friend waited outside. Inside, the animal doctor could finally begin preparing her for the ultrasound.
