Ben wouldn’t have dared it if it weren’t for the doctor’s encouragement and support over the phone; he was worried Felicia would retaliate and injure him. Despite his mounting fear, his love for the poor animal in distress was greater and won the day. In order to avoid upsetting or agitating the mare, Ben approached her slowly and followed the animal doctor’s instructions.
